Depression and suicide

The first thing we need to look at is the fact that God loves us

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

God has provided us future in him and through him. When we look at depression, suicide and bipolar we are looking at someone who has lost direction and like all of us is lost. As we go through life we have to deal with success and failure. When the Spirit of depression comes on us it allows us to turn into ourselves and begin to add up all the things we don't have or the failures of our lives.

Proverbs 12:25  Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but a kind word makes it glad.

These things could be lost love, lack of money, the loss of a job or a moral failure that brings us shame.

It doesn't matter our failure or situation because in Jesus there is hope. Many times we allow ourselves to feel bad about something and we turn it to our selfish nature or we dwell on it till it begins to control us. It begins to take over our mind and we then allow it to rule us. We then allow ourselves to believe there is no way out but suicide or other ways we damage ourselves whether it be cutting or other self destructive behavior in drug, alcohol, sex, spending money or a myriad of issues.

We then seek help from prescription drugs and counseling yet we are not healed we have merely mask the problem. Jesus says:

Mat 11:28  “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest."

If we are looking for an answer or healing we need to call out to the Creator of the universe, the all powerful and ask for forgiveness. We were never intended to live in a sinful nature but as a Holy Being, worshiping the Creator.

2Cor 1:10  who delivered us out of so great a death, and does deliver; on whom we have set our hope that he will also still deliver us;

When we look around us we think I deserve this and I deserve that but we don't deserve anything. If we look around and see ourselves as a failure or a loser because we don't have the things the World calls good we think we have failed.

True joy is only found in Jesus. When we bow our knee an ask Jesus Christ to forgive us of our sins we are a new creature.

Isa 1:18  Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

God sent his Son to die on the cross that we may have eternal life. He never intended for us to live in depression or suicidal he intended us to have joy. To really experience the joy of Jesus Christ you need to give him your life.

To do so is as simple as this prayer:  “Father Go in Heaven, I ask the you would forgive me of my sins. As Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead I pray right know that you would take this empty, lonely, dead life and give me a new life in Jesus name.”

Secondly you need to forgive others. This is very important

Mat 6:14  For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

Mat 6:15  But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

This is as simple as saying ”God please forgive me for unforgiveness. I pray right now that I would forgive ALL those who have hurt me in anyway.” If you are somewhere private call out those names of the people that you hold hatred or bitterness towards. And sincerely mean what you say and no longer allow the sin of unforgiveness to rule you and you can walk in the joy of Christ.
