Finding Rest in Christ
In the times of trials and storms Christ is there waiting on us to call out, to call upon him. When we look at the Disciples we see that a terrible storm had come on them and they cried out to Jesus.
John 6:16-21 (BBE) When evening came the disciples went down to the sea; And they took a boat and went across the sea in the direction of Capernaum. By then it was dark and still Jesus had not come to them. The sea was getting rough because of a strong wind which was blowing.
After they had gone three or four miles they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near to the boat; and they had great fear. But he said to them, It is I, have no fear. Then they readily took him into the boat: and straight away the boat was at the land to which they were going.
So a few key takeaways from this, four of the Disciples were fishermen so for the sea to be rough enough to concern them it must have been rough. What they discovered out in the storm was Jesus who walked up to the boat and climbed aboard. What this shows us is how Jesus is there in times of trouble and as the Disciples saw he gave them rest and peace. If we will look for Jesus during times of trouble we can find him and he will give us the same rest and peace.
When we learn that God is in control we learn no matter what happens “It is well with my soul” This song was wrote after a shipwreck in which a man and woman lost four children. GOD is CONTROL.
Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who are troubled and weighted down with care, and I will give you rest.
God holds to his promises. If we will walk upright as in Christ we will learn we have no worries. We will also know that no matter what happens “It is well It is well with my soul."
I attached the link to this amazing song wrote for a Mother and Father after the Mother was overheard saying “It is well with my soul”. She wasn’t saying that she was happy her daughters were died. If we only seek happiness we will forever be troubled but if seek God and his rest we are at peace.

“I can only imagine” by Mercy Me
When we stop and look up to Christ and we cry out it is well with my soul we can sit back and only imagine what it will be like when we stand with Christ.
John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
